Just made total mess of OSCE exams. Maths paper fingers x'd ok but missed entire page of pharmacology paper. SOOOOOO angry with my self , school girl error and gutting because i realised just as time finished and knew at least 2 of the answers . So fed up after that CRIED before history taking (how embarrassing is that???) and by the time it came to the VIVA was a gibbering wreck! I dont get stressed very often...just as well cos i dont do it very well. Oh well resits in october. |

Poor you. All you can do is dust yourself down and try again. It's like most things nursing, you wont make the same mistake again. Chin up. |

I do question why colleges are making assessments so hard? They vary so much. I'm not sure I could have managed OSCE, viva, exam and 'history taking'(not sure what that is all about but I think I can guess) all on one day - am I right in thinking that it was all one day Jongeord?- I'm surprised anyone passes with that amount of stress. Kind of sets you up to fail as adult learners - and they know adult learners do worse in exam conditions. They have some choices in the assessment process - I know you do have to take exams but OSCEs can be done in practice with your mentor and a viva? I fail to see the value of this and surely can be assessed in practice. My course was short and hard work and I worked methodically through but did not have this kind of ordeal at the end. Good luck next time J - at least you know what is coming and you can deal with it - is there hope you have passed anyway?

| yes all in one day. to be honest i was quite comfortable with the written exam, you either know it or you dont (unless of course you miss halve of it out!!) but the face to face stuff just totally freaks me out. I know its irrational and its nothing i dont do on a day to day basis but i have no more control over it than i do my absolute fear of edges and ledges!! Im sure knowing I had these all to come was in some way contributary to my stupidity and agree much better assessed in practice in a less false enviroment. Dont think there is anyway I could pass, too many points dropped, but now am over my disappointment and have retrieved my teddy from the corner, can get on with my portfolio and prepare for re-sits where I will be better prepared and hopefully less of a wreck x Jo |
